| | | | | | FLAKY OPERATION LOST FREEVIEW CHANNELS ON DRT10 - Scores 1/5
The problems experienced are as follows:
The digital tuner frequently loses all of the digital channels. The message "not connected to aerial; no signal" appears on the screen. When attempting to re-tune (auto tune) the digital TV channels are picked up but when you attempt to select one of the channels you cannot. The only way to resolve the problem is to switch the unit off at the mains for 15 seconds, power on again and then retune the freeview channels.
Other problems are that the fan is very noisy (which we have learnt to tolerate). You cannot watch freeview if there is a DVD in the drive, it will only play the DVD (not the desired digital TV) and then you have to wait for the DVD to get to the DVD menu before stopping the DVD to watch freeview; the TV/DVD swap button does not do anything. This causes an infuriatingly long delay before you can watch digital TV if there is a disk in the tray.
When you start the unit and wish to eject a disc in the tray, it takes approximately 1 minute before you can eject the disk
I have only tried a couple of times to record digital TV (not using the EPG) but have found the menus and disc preparation so slow that I have given up and recorded it on another device in the household instead.
My opinion is that Daewoo have released a product on the market place which has not been properly tested and developed. That is perhaps why it is at the bottom end of market in price, but in my opinion the price is no excuse for these inherent flaws in the product. | REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS ON 05 FEBRUARY 2008 |
| | | | | | GOOD VALUE - Scores 4/5
easiest device to set up I have ever come across, handy really because every few days it loses its settings & it has to be switched off at mains & re tuned, you could leave machine on but as previous reviewer writes, the fan is quite noisy. Also confirm you need to set timer early as disc has to be set up by recorder before recording starts, so EPG is not as useful as it could be. Overall I am happy with performance | REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS ON 31 MAY 2007 |
| | | | | | GOOD DVD RECORDER -VALUE FOR MONEY. - Scores 5/5
If you are thinking about buying a dvd recorder - get one with a 'built in' digital receiver (like this one). The images and recordings are great with this machine. You can record using the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), which lists programmes up to 8 days in advance. The fan is a little noticeable, but nowhere near as bad as previous reviews have complained. It also records in most disk formats. Note that the DVD-R/RW & the DVD+R formats must be finalised before you can use the disk on another machine(same for all recorders - bit annoying). The DVD+RW format does not require to be finalised before playing on another DVD player/recorder, therefore this is the best format for frequent use. I would recommened this recorder as it represents good value for money.
Steer clear of machines that dont have built in digital receivers. Machines without digital receivers will only record the 1-5 analogue channels and the recordings will depend on the quality of your current reception. | REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS ON 24 APRIL 2007 |
| | | | | | GOOD IMAGES, POOR NOISE LEVEL - Scores 2/5
I was pleased with the images. Hopelessly noisy fan though, which seems a common problem with the Daewoo stuff I have tried - a shame as it lets them down.
The other problem is recording time - if the programme starts at 8.00pm the machine does not prepare the disk for writing until 8.00, clipping off the front of your program - so you need to adjust the timer, which wastes the built in freeview recording guide. | REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS ON 12 JANUARY 2007 |
