	TEN FOOT BARGE POLE - TOO SHORT. - Scores 1/5 This is the worst camcorder I have ever owned. The heads require cleaning every few shoots; indoors it is pathetic even with the built in light (your choice is 'squint through the dark' or 'blurry movement'). The 'let's take a snap' button is placed just in front of the zoom button so you can guess what happens there. Auto focus seems to involve a constant shift in and out of with the emphasis heavily on the out of. There are no redeeming features. I cannot remember what I paid for it (whatever it was it was too much) but it was enough to warrant my trying to think of something positive to say. The lens cap works. 	NOT IMPRESSED - Scores 2/5 I know that you probably cannot buy it now, but for what is worth, mine started to chew off tapes and destroyed 3 tapes. I was lucky that I am still within warranty (10.5 months) and it goes back to Amazon. It is a cheap and cheerful camera that does the job but you can see that it is not robust and had these problems with it: focus control (auto/manual) is not great, auto mode does not work in poor light condition, auto focus does not work well under poor light, is not touch screen. 	ABSOLOUTELY BRILLIANT! - Scores 5/5 I bought this camcorder after looking at the Sony alternatives. I also asked my friend, who is an ITV presenter, and he says he woul use a DV tape camcorder over DVD camcoders any day. It has the ability to record in widescreen (useful for playback on widescreen television) and amazing optical and digital zoom. The included remote control is a bonus as it enables you to film yourself. It has ports for USB (photos) and DV Firewire (video): it comes with a USB cable and photo memory card but not with a firewire cable which cost around £[...] It's very simple to use and comes with photo transfer software. 	BEST VALUE FOR MONEY AROUND - Scores 5/5 I wanted an inexpensive, good quality camcorder mainly to take clips of my horses. I was delighted to find that this camera includes a sports mode, that takes clear frame by frame action shots. Perfect. The optical zoom is excellent, we got clear shots of one of our horses being worked from over 200 yards away. What you need to know, and is not clear, is that if you want to copy videos to your PC, you need a firewire (IEEE1394) cable and the port on your PC. The cable is not supplied with the camera, and I spent several hours wondering why I couldn't download via the supplied USB cable. (Duh). I phoned JVC technical support and got through immediately, very impressive, and problem solved. Can't fault this camera for quality, value and loads of good features that I will never use ...... 	YOU CANT BEAT THIS FOR THIS PRICE! - Scores 5/5 I got This JVC camera after a long time looking at other options... JVC seem to be making the best HDD camcorders acording to numerous reviews etc so i figured the mini DV's must be good contenders too.. For 175 quid this cam had double the amount of features of rivals like the sonys which start at 250!.... This Has DV in and out! and a Super bright LED which is always handy.. the build qualitys good and to date i havnt had a single problem.. the only bummer is you dont get a Firewire cable.. but luckily i got one years back with a PCI card! the images are clear and crisp.. but unlike the sonys the night shot on this camera is not Infa red... meaning you dont get the green and black night shots... That is the only honest quibble ive had but again.. if you look at the others.. youll be paying more that 175 for a top end Mini Dv... and i doubt that youll half get the features that this jvc carrying!....
